How do I freeze my account? (app)
Users who have started identity verification
The account freezing method only applies to users who have already started identity verification.
Once you freeze your account, you won't be able to log in or register using the same email/phone/identity information. However, if you decide to unfreeze the account, you can unfreeze it by completing security authentication (Phone authentication, Email authentication and Authenticator app). You may contact our customer service for assistance if any difficulties are encountered.
If you need to freeze your account, here is a quick access link:
Open your OKX app and go to Menu
Go to Account settings and select Security
Find Account management, select Freeze account
Select Proceed
Select Freeze account
Important Note: after successfully freezing your account, you will no longer be able to log in, and the email address/phone number linked to that account can't be used to register a new account.
How do I unfreeze a self-frozen account?
Your account will be temporarily suspended after being frozen. You can log back into your account to unfreeze it later.
To unfreeze your account, you'll need to complete security verification steps, including phone verification, email verification, and authenticator app verification.
Note: If you forget your login password when unfreezing your account, you can try resetting your security settings first before unfreezing (requires Android version 6.173 or above). If you're still unable to unfreeze your account, please contact our customer support for assistance.
Users who have not started identity verification
Users who have not started identity verification can close your accounts using the following method:
Open your OKX app and go to Menu
Go to Account settings and select Security
Find Account management, select Close account
Once confirmed, the account will enter the closure process and will be officially closed after 30 days.
Important Note: after the 30-day waiting period, the phone number and email address linked to the account can be used for new registrations. This also applies to accounts closed due to KYC verification failure or manually closed by customer support — a 30-day waiting period is required before the account is officially released. During this period, the same phone number or email address cannot be used to register a new account. For the stability of your user experience, we recommend proceeding with caution.
How do I close/delete my account after started identity verification?
Accounts that have started identity verification can’t be canceled or closed at this time, but you can apply to freeze your account to suspend its use. Furthermore, successfully verified identity verification can‘t be changed.
